The Amalapuram police on Wednesday arrested a five-member gang of inter-state robbers who have indulged in several house breakings and robberies for last few months.
All the five accused are regular offenders and they are having criminal background and 20 cases were booked against them in East, West Godavari districts, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad cities.
Addressing a media conference, Assistant Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar said that the Amalapuram DSP L. Ankaiah and Inpsector Y.R.K. Srinivas had caught the gang and recovered 601 grams of gold valued at Rs.17.50 lakh. The police arrested Gubbala Chanti of Tallarevu, P. Dhananjaya Raju of Kandikottu village of Katrenikona mandal, Bokka Suresh of Moolasthanam village in Alamuru mandal, Kadali Eswaraiah of Kurasampeta in French Yanam, Vinukonda Ganesh of Konkapalli street of Amalapuram town.
The ASP said that all the accused became friends in Charlapalli Jail where they were kept as undertrails and Pothuri Dhananjayaraju was main accused in killing his wife and Bokka Suresh is also facing a serious charge of attempt to murder.
