House panel inspects Masula port site

The State Public Accounts Committee led by its Chairman Bhooma Nagireddy on Wednesday inspected the proposed site in Machilipatnam rural mandal for the Masula port project. The panel is comprises MLAs Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao, K. Trimurthulu and Govardhana Reddy.

Accompanied by Krishna Collector Babu A., the team inspected the site at Tapasipudi village, one of the key locations where the State government is planning to develop a deep sea-port along the coast of Bay of Bengal.

Officials from the Department of Ports including Kakinada Port Director Ravi Kumar and Babu explained the committee members about the technical aspects of the project and the possible conditions for development of the area after the port becomes operational.

However, the panel members refused to share the findings of their visit with the media, citing limitations .
