Good Friday observed across the State

Processions, special prayers, ‘crucifixion of Jesus Christ’ mark the occasion. Prayers were held in Churches across Vijayawada and rallies taken out by the devout.

Good Friday was observed all over Andhra Pradesh with special prayers. Churches were richly decorated befitting the occasion. Various social service activities were taken up by the community.

Churches witnessed a huge congregation of people from Christian community which took part in special prayers and heard messages on the seven symbolical words of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Prayers were held in Churches across Vijayawada and rallies taken out by the devout. The famous church at Gunadala drew large crowds as the crucifixion of Jesus Christ was commemorated in a solemn manner.

St. Peter’s Cathedral near Nirmala Convent, St. Paul’s Basilica on Gopal Reddy Road and other churches in the city witnessed heavy rush.

The devout read psalms

The faithful observed Good Friday in Prakasam District at Calvary. Believers congregated and read psalms and the gospel and sang hymns at the 140-member church of the Ongole denomination in the city.

Ongole Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Illuri Irudayaraj led the Stations of the Cross' procession bearing the holy cross on his shoulders. The devout observed the Passion of the Lord in the afternoon.

Processions taken out

Processions and special prayers marked the observance of 'Good Friday' at Tirupati. Devotees, with all solemnity, thronged cathedrals in Tirupati, Renigunta and elsewhere to take part in prayers. Special gospel meetings were held in the West Mission Church, Jaganmatha Church and other churches in the city.

Shekinah Ministries of India enacted the 'Crucifixion of Jesus Christ' near Jeevakona area. People decked in colourful costumes enacted the scenes in a silent procession, evoking curious glances from the onlookers. Touching scenes, during the procession, accompanied by psalms from Bible and music, portrayed the reason for the observance of Good Friday.

Rev. Fr. D. Susai Antony, Fr. G. Chinnappa and Bro. C. Anthony performed special prayers for the donors and thanked them for their contribution.
