Gaiety marked the procession of ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ organised on Monday on the sixth day of the ongoing annual Navaratri Brahmotsavams at the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara.

The processional deity of Lord Malayappa, flanked on either side by his two divine consorts, was carried out in a colourful procession around the Mada streets of the sacred shrine mounted atop the flower bedecked palanquin.

The palanquin was tastefully decorated with varied hues of aromatic flowers and colourfully illuminated befitting the grand occasion. Several quintals of flowers went into the making of the bewitching palanquin. Eminent florists from the neighbouring States, who were commissioned for the purpose, toiled for more than 36 hours in fashioning the floral palanquin.

While Hanumantha Vahanam was organised in the morning, the Lord enthralled the devout on Gaja Vahanam in the night.

Eminent vocalist Ayaikudi Anantha Krishnan and his team from Chennai enthralled the devotees during the ‘Nama Sankeerthanam’ programme organised at the Nada Neerajana Mandapam in front of the main temple complex at the twilight.

Thousands of devotees who had assembled for the night procession of Gaja Vahanam remained spellbound even as he sang devotional songs in the praise of Lord Venkateswara.
