Speaker Tammineni Sitaram on Thursday suspended four TDP MLAs for a day for “obstructing the proceedings” in the House.

“With pain, I have suspended the MLAs. I need to conduct the business in the House. Very important Bills are being tabled. The Chair cannot allow any disruptions,” the Speaker said.

The suspended TDP legislators were Bendalam Ashok, Vasupalli Ganesh, Velagapudi Ramakrishna, and Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy.

This was the second time the TDP MLAs were suspended from the Assembly.

Two days ago, Gorantla Butchaiah Choudary, K. Atchannaidu and Nimmala Ramanaidu were suspended for the rest of the session.

Earlier, the TDP MLAs rushed to the Speaker’s podium following certain remarks by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy against Opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu during a short discussion on ‘Stabilisation of ayacut of Krishna delta and Sagar delta, and also to provide drinking water to Rayalaseema, and Nellore and Prakasam districts by lifting Godavari water to Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar dams along with Telangana’.

A few of them trooped into the well. The marshals escorted the suspended MLAs out. As the Speaker did not give the mike to Mr. Naidu to register his protest, they staged a walkout.
