Former AP press academy chairman Deekshitulu dead

Former Editor of Andhra Prabha and chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Press Academy V.V. Vasudeva Deekshitulu died in Hyderabad on Friday afternoon.

He was 76 and is survived by wife and three daughters. He died at a private hospital in Secunderabad while undergoing treatment. The body is being shifted to his house at Kalyanpuri and according to the family members, the last rites would be performed on Saturday morning.

A native of Konaseema region in East Godavari district, Mr. Deekshitulu joined Andhra Prabha as a sub-editor in 1960. After working in different capacities in the same paper, he was elevated to the post of the Editor. After serving in this post for a long time, he retired from journalism and was appointed as Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Press Academy.

The Indian Journalists Union president Devulapalli Amar, IJU senior leader K. Srinivasa Reddy, former member of Press Council of India K. Amarnadh, IJU vice-president Ambati Anjaneyulu, secretary Y. Narender Reddy, national executive committee member Somasundar, Alapati Suresh Kumar, K. Satyanarayana, senior journalist Vijay Babu and a host of others condoled the demise of Mr. Deekshitulu.

Secretary of the National Alliance of Journalists Gantla Srinubabu and A.P. Working Journalists’ Federation city president P. Narayan mourned the death of Mr. Vasudeva Deekshitulu.
