Just when life was returning to normality in the Konaseema region in East Godavari district, which witnessed heavy rains, increasing water levels in the subsidiaries of the Godavari has triggered a fresh wave of tension.

The causeway near Chakelapalem in P. Gannavaram mandal has come under water, causing heavy inconvenience to the residents of the area. Several areas in Devipanam have submerged and Seethapalli rivulet near Dandangi is overflowing.

Godavari in Rajamahendram is in spate. The Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram recorded an inflow of 74,275 cusecs with the water level reaching 9.6 feet on Friday. The irrigation officials released 11,500 cusecs to the delta canals and 7.49 lakh cusecs into the sea.
