Fire at Tirupati pharmacy destroys drugs, furniture

A minor fire destroyed drugs and furniture worth ₹15 lakh at a pharmacy outlet in Chinna Bazaar area of the city on Tuesday.

Electric short-circuit is said to have caused the fire, which spread to the adjoining cool drinks parlour within no time, causing tense moments among the shop owners.

Fire Officer Kiran Kumar Reddy said fire tenders were rushed in to the spot immediately to douse the flames.

However, it could not save the huge quantity of drugs from destruction.
