Elderly woman charred to death

A 75-year-old woman identified as Gande Neelamma was charred to death in a fire mishap at Seetanapalli village in Krishna district on Saturday.

According to the AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department, Neelamma, was in her thatched hut when the fire broke out at around 12.30 a.m. Her grandson David Raju’s family, living in an adjacent hut managed to escape. On receipt of information, a fire tender from the Kaikalur fire station rushed to the spot and doused the flames. An electric short circuit was said to be the cause of the fire. Police have registered a case.
