The Vice-President, M. Venkaiah Naidu, on Friday advised students to never neglect the motherland and mother tongue.
He participated in the centenary celebrations of the Annie Besant school at Proddatur of Kadapa district.
He arrived by a helicopter and landed on the helipad arranged near the RTO office at Proddatur around 2.30 p.m. and proceeded to the school in a cavalcade of cars.
Speaking at the function, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said students should imbibe the culture of respecting their motherland and mother tongue on a par with their own mother.
Bats for govt. schools
“Whether it is me, Chandrababu Naidu or KCR (K. Chandrasekhara Rao), we all studied in government schools and I firmly believe in their ability to coach students on a par with private institutions,” said Mr. Naidu, encouraging parents to consider sending their wards to government schools.
India was on the path of rapid development and slated to become a developed nation in the near future and that required students to become part of its development, he said.
Earlier, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu was welcomed by Ministers Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Narayana, Manikyala Rao and the Minister from Kadapa district, Adinarayana Reddy.
