BJP floor leader in Assembly K. Laxman has requested Union Minister for Science and Technology Harsh Vardhan to take steps to appoint a full fledged Director for the National Geophysical Research Institute here which is under the additional charge of Ch. Mohan Rao, Director, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology.

Being a biologist, Mr. Rao cannot satisfy the requirements of an earth science institute adequately.

He was given additional charge six months ago during which no decision on regular Director was taken.

It appeared that a deliberate attempt to stall the selection was made, Mr. Laxman said in a letter handed over to Mr. Harsh Vardhan.
