District Collector V. Vinay Chand has directed officials concerned to conduct a ward-wise verification of households based on ration cards.

The Collector held a review meeting with Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) and Housing officials on Wednesday.

Mr. Vinay Chand directed that officials ensure transparency in the conduct of the surveys and update the data entries promptly. Joint Collector L. Shiva Shankar informed the Collector that volunteers had completed the household survey from August 26 to 31.

GVMC Commissioner G. Srijana said that there were only 240 volunteers of the 290 volunteer posts in GVMC area. The wards in which there were no volunteers were entrusted to the neighbouring ward volunteers.

The Collector said that volunteers could obtain data on whether the individuals possessed houses or not during the survey, and it could be cross-checked with the Housing Department officials. Similarly, data on ration cards and house sites could be verified with that available with the Joint Collector.

He directed the officials concerned to complete the survey by September 6.

District Revenue Officer M. Sridevi, Anakapalle RDO J. Seetharama Rao, Simhachalam EO and in-charge Visakhapatnam RDO M. Venkateswara Rao, Narsipatnam RDO Govinda Rao and Housing Project Director Jayaramachari were among those who attended the meeting.

The Collector directed officials concerned to ensure prompt payment of compensation to landowners, whose lands were acquired for the Anakapalle–Anandapuram National Highway widening work.

At a separate review meeting with RDOs, Mr. Vinay Chand directed officials to make prompt payments for the lands on which there was no dispute. A separate list should be prepared of the villages in which there were disputes on land ownership, he said.

He asked the GVMC Commissioner to direct the SE to send proposals for the shifting of the pipelines, which were coming in the way of widening of the highway.
