Guizhou International Investment Corporation (GIIC) experts on Friday completed field study of the proposed Machilipatnam Industrial Corridor and key locations within the Machilipatnam Area Development Authority (MADA).

GIIC, a consortium of three Chinese manufacturing firms, has evinced interest in preparing a master plan for MADA. The team of experts led by GIIC Vice-President Chen Zin on Friday studied various aspects of the area, with focus on developing engineering, infrastructure and transportation facilities within the MADA. The experts in power and urban planning and designing studied weather conditions along the coastline, marine trade and operations during the period of the British and transportation connectivity to the nearest cities— Amaravati and Vijayawada.

Fruitful interaction

Bandar Revenue Divisional Officer P. Saibabu and officials associated with the proposed Machilipatnam deep sea port explained to the experts the State government’s proposals such as developing township and land to be spared for various other facilities. The availability of government land, nature of land on which industrial activities would be allowed and mode of investment to be encouraged for the interested Indian and foreign companies were discussed.

Of late, the revenue authorities have also shared key data and maps pertaining to the MADA with the Chinese firm. On marine trade operations, the GIIC representatives documented expected cargo handling, port traffic, prospects for import and exports at the proposed deep sea port. The experts also visited areas such as Tapasipudi, Karagraharam and Bandarkota where once the old port existed. The GIIC team shared their experience in engineering and IT services and their role in shaping Guizhou into a world-class city within a decade.
