Expressing concern over the Central government’s “nonchalant” attitude towards providing financial support to the State, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Thursday said political parties in the State should question the Centre over the funds issue.

Reviewing the arrangements for the Dharma Porata Deeksha, in which Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would take part at JNTUK on Friday evening, he said the State government was leaving no stone unturned to get help from the Centre.

“Had the Centre provided necessary support, the State would have been developed manifold in the last four years. But still, the State government is doing a lot, without compromising on the welfare front,” he said.

Exuding confidence that people were with the TDP, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said there was no doubt about the party’s victory in the general elections scheduled for the next year.

‘Pawan lacks maturity’

Taking pot shots at JSP president Pawan Kalyan for moving closely with both the BJP and the Left parties, he wondered whether the Left parties lacked basic values.

“Mr. Pawan Kalyan’s comments on the Kadapa steel factory are a classic example to showcase his immaturity,” he said.

On the issue of pay revision to government employees, he admitted there was delay owing to the state of finances. , but the government released ₹1,950 crore towards interim relief.

Home Minister N. Chinarajappa said the BJP leaders were speechless after seeing the progress of the Polavaram project.
