Carnatic music critic passes away

Carnatic music critic and founder editor of ‘Ganakala’ magazine Munuganti Srirama Murthy, passed away at his residence here on Monday. He was 90 and is survived by two sons and a daughter.

Born to renowned classical singer of yesteryears, Munuganti Venkatrao Panthulu, Srirama Murthy established Sangeetha Vidwat Sabha, a 69-year-old organisation, that has been conducting annual music and dance festivals every year in the city during the Sankranti festival. Continuing the legacy of his father, he successfully run Srirama Samajam, which is 108-year-old now and helped many enthusiasts to learn classical music free of cost through its music school.
