Opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday alleged that Minister for Transport K. Atchannaidu and his supporters were involved in large-scale corruption and harassment of local YSRCP leaders.

Addressing a public meeting in Tekkali as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra in the Srikakulam district, he said he was sending kickbacks regularly to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his son and Minister for IT Lokesh. He alleged that the Minister’s loyalists were collecting bribes from people even to sanction loans, pensions and toilets constructed under the open defecation free programme.

Mr. Jagan expressed concern over the inordinate delay in the payment of compensation to victims of the Titli cyclone. “Mr. Naidu is giving wide publicity for his success over cyclones. It is foolish to claim that his real time government was far better than the reports of the Indian Meteorological Department and ISRO. He even claims that he was able to control nature and sea. He is trying to boost his image while suppressing the facts at the ground level,” said Mr. Jagan.

He assured to do justice to the unemployed youth and other sections of society if his party was voted to power. “Many students are facing difficulties with the delay in the implementation of fee reimbursement scheme. Why is this issue not tracked through real time governance?”

He urged people to ensure victory of the YSRCP to play a key role in national politics and to achieving the Special Category Status.
