A crucial meeting of the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will be held on Sunday where important issues, including allocation of AIS officers, power and water sharing, are expected to be discussed.
Apart from Chief Minsters K. Chandrasekhar Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu, Sunday’s meeting would be attended by the Chief Secretaries of the two States -- Rajiv Sharma and IYR Krishna Rao. The meeting is to be held at noon at the Raj Bhavan, sources said.
The much-awaited breakthrough came after Governor ESL Narasimhan intervened to arrange what is now being described as an ‘ice-breaker’ meeting between the two sparring Chief Ministers. During the 40-minute-long meeting, both the Chief Ministers were stated to have interacted freely.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao is stated to have told his bête noire that both the States should resolve the services issue amicably. Otherwise, Telangana would not hesitate to fight it out. Mr Chandrababu Naidu too endorsed the view that the issue needed to be sorted out.
Issues pertaining to the 12 Schedule of the AP Reorganisation Act which deals with coal, oil and natural gas and power came up for discussion. The CMs were stated to have agreed to another meeting on Sunday to find solutions to contentious issues.
