All set for Kakinada Book Festival from today

50 publishers from two States setting up stalls at the 9-day event

Arrangements are in place for the nine-day ‘Kakinada Book Festival’ to be held at Ananda Bharati grounds here from Saturday.

Vijayawada Book Festival Society (VBFS), in association with the department of Language and Culture and the NTR Trust, is conducting the festival in the city for the third time, which will be inaugurated by Collector Kartikeya Misra at 6 p.m. Over 50 publishers from the two Telugu States will put on display about 10,000 titles in 80 stalls.

‘Walk for Books’

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, president of the VBFS Swarna Venkata Narayana and CEO of the NTR Trust T. Vishnu Vardhan, along with the conveners of the literary meetings Vadrevu Veeralakshmi Devi and K. Ramachandra Reddy, said six literary meetings along with ‘Walk for Books’ would be formed part of the nine-day event.

The NTR Trust would conduct competitions in essay writing, elocution, drawing, quiz and verse recital for the schoolchildren and present cash prizes to the winners from 3.30 p.m. onwards, which would be followed by literary meetings.
