Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids on Government BC and SC Welfare Hostels in Krishna district and reportedly observed many irregularities.

The ACB teams, under the supervision of its Director-General (DG) R.P. Thakur, checked the SC Boys Welfare Hostel at Nandigama and the BC Boys Hostel, located at G. Kondur in the district on Friday. Wardens were not present when police visited the hostels at 5 a.m, the DG said.

Police found that the hostel warden was not following menu and the buildings were in a dilapidated condition. Sanitation was very poor in the dormitories and cosmetic charges were not paid to the inmates for the last three months.

“We checked the purchase and stock registers, bills and the attendance registers of the students and found much variation. Quality of the provisions, particularly rice, is very poor and the rooms provided for the students were congested,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police S.V.V. Prasada Rao, who participated in the raids.
