The police got quick leads at various levels in the case of seizure of huge haul of red sanders logs and the trail led them straight to a godown in Chennai.
Sleuths of the Tirupati Urban Police District on Thursday arrested Ramesh alias Suresh of Poonamallee and Vishal of Perambur, at the SIDCO industrial area in Chennai based on tip-offs from the past.
The trail further led them to a godown owned by Sahul alias Bhai alias Nazeeruddin, where a container load of 237 ‘A’ grade red sanders logs weighing seven tonnes was recovered.
Two weighing machines and two woodcutting machines were also recovered.
Superintendent of Police R. Jayalakshmi inspected the logs along with the container, which were brought to the Armed Reserve parade grounds here on Friday.
The seizure became possible with the arrest of Sardar Ramesh at a rythu bazaar in the city on May 31, who spilled the beans on the involvement of V. Loka Vinayaka Reddy of Ramireddygaripalle in Pulicherla mandal, who was arrested on June 14.
His confession further led to seizure of four logs and a two-wheeler near Srinivasa Mangapuram Railway Bridge.
