Senior BJP leader Ch. Vidyasagar Rao has urged the Justice Srikrishna committee to treat the results of the byelections as the final report towards creation of Telangana and suggested that the panel wind-up its functioning.

At a press conference, he said the people of Telangana demonstrated to the rest of the world that they favoured bifurcation of the State and endorsed the December 9 statement of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram. Therefore, there was no need for Srikrishna committee to tour any further as it would only create “ill-feelings” among the people of the three regions. Charging other parties with giving “unnecessary” priority to Babli and Polavaram with a view to confusing the situation, he said Telangana would turn into a desert if the design of Polavaram project was not altered.
