During a day-long visit, Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana and Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu took part in various developmental programmes in Nellore district on Saturday.
Addressing as chief guest at the Janmabhoomi - Maa Vooru programme held in the 50th division in the city, Mr. Narayana said all the developmental works and activities being taken up in the city were based on the feedback received from the local people’s representatives and the public. Stating that various approaches were being followed to identify the areas for development, Mr. Narayana said it was ultimately the need-based development that would best serve the overall interests of the public over a long period of time. Nearly Rs. 140 crore had been provided to the Nellore Municipal Corporation since January 2016 for addressing the developmental activities here.
Mr. Narayana called upon the residents of various divisions in the city to come forward and make effective use of the welfare and developmental programmes being implemented by the TDP government.
Mr. Narayana said latest technologies would be used in constructing 1.2 lakh houses for poor families all over the State soon.
Surprise check
Meanwhile, Minister for Finance and Commercial Taxes Yanamala Ramakrishnudu made a surprise check at the Tada integrated check post while on his way to Chennai after attending a programme in Gudur division.
He instructed the check post administrative officer Ravi Kumar to initiate criminal action against the lorries that were caught passing through the check post forcibly without paying taxes.
A huge loss was being caused to the State exchequer because of these lorries which were carrying goods between Chennai and the border towns in AP, including Nellore city.
Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that the Tada check post would be further modernised soon and tenders had been called for in this regard.
