The 93-year-old Tirupati Cooperative Bank Limited distributed dividends to its members at a function held at its head office here on Sunday.

Environment and Forest Minister Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy, who took part as the chief guest, expressed surprise at the bank’s hoary past and appreciated it for rendering service even before the nationalised banks made their presence on the district’s financial landscape. Indicating that he had no great experience with cooperative banks, the Minister admitted to have been startled to find the bank treading on the rosy path by distributing dividends. Bank chairman Pulugoru Muralikrishna Reddy promises to take the bank forward.

TTD Chairman Ch. Krishnamurthy and MP V. Varaprasada Rao expressed the desire to work in tandem for the development of the railway station. MLA M. Suguna recalled that her husband and former legislator M. Venkatramana had longed to see the bank pay dividends to its members.
