Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Tuesday asked officials to design the road connecting the proposed third bridge across the Upputeru and NH 214 in such a way that it would reduce traffic congestion on the city roads besides minimising the cost of land acquisition.

The Minister conducted a review meeting with the officials of the Roads and Buildings Department on the linking road.

He said in view of the increasing traffic in the city, a sum of ₹146 crore had been sanctioned for the construction of the third bridge.

“Of it, ₹30 crore will be spent on construction work and the remaining on land acquisition for laying a road that connects the bridge and the national highway,” he said.

There were three proposals to lay the linking road and the least expensive plan would be adopted.

Earlier in the day, representatives of different teachers’ unions called on the Finance Minister at his camp office and thanked him for upgrading the Language Pandit posts as teaching assistants. The decision would help 10,224 language pandits working in government schools all over the State, they said.
