A Delhi court on Tuesday extended till January 11 the protection granted to former Union Minister P. Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram from arrest in the Aircel-Maxis case.

Special Judge O.P. Saini extended the relief granted to both Karti after the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted that new material that needed to be collated had been recovered

It also granted time till January 11 to the CBI to get sanction to prosecute some others accused in the case.

On November 26, the CBI told the court that the Centre had granted sanction to prosecute Mr. P. Chidambaram.

The case relates to alleged irregularities in grant of FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board) approval in the Aircel-Maxis deal.
