Sack Delhi Police Commissioner Bassi: Opposition

February 18, 2016 02:57 am | Updated December 04, 2021 10:56 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Opposition parties on Wednesday demanded the sacking of Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi after another attack on JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar, who had been brought to the Patiala House Court premises in connection with a sedition case, and journalists who had turned up to cover the event. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken accused the Delhi Police of aiding and abetting the law-breakers.

“The Congress demands the immediate sacking of the Delhi Police Commissioner,” Mr. Maken said in a statement.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat said Mr. Bassi had no right to remain the Police Commissioner.

“Bassi does not know the Constitution and he is working like a ‘shakha man’ [RSS worker]. And he has said a bunch of lies. This is a re-enactment of Hitler Raj. Bassi should be removed immediately,” she said. — National Bureau
