Govt. has no role in National Herald case: Jaitley

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said “Govt has no role in National Herald case; No file on National Herald in Enforcement Directorate.”

Mr. Jaitley said “Transfer of Enforcement Directorate Director Rajan S Katoch is not related to National Herald case.”

He also added that “Congress holding country’s democracy to ransom over the web it created by its own financial transaction in the National Herald case.”

On GST Bill, Mr. Jaitley said “Govt has walked an extra mile to explain GST to Congress; their agenda is to paralyse the country.”

On Congress demand for including GST rate in the Constitutional amendment bill, Mr. Jaitley said “Tariff cannot be written in Constitution.”

Mr. Jaitley further added “I have offered to Congress GST Council will resolve dispute and form a dispute rederessal forum, as was proposed by P Chidambaram.”

He finally added that "We will wait for outcome of the judicial process in the National Herald case."
