Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Sunday reviewed the security situation in the State, post-Ayodhya verdict, and directed administrative and police officers to keep a close watch on elements who may try to vitiate the atmosphere.

“Some notorious elements may attempt to influence and provoke people who may get swayed and the law and order situation could be disturbed,” Ms. Mayawati said, during a high-level meeting to review law and order in all 72 districts.

Till the time the Ayodhya dispute reached the Supreme Court and a stay was granted, no laxity should be allowed on the law and order front, she said. She said special vigil should be maintained in view of the coming festivals.
