In a bizarre incident, a man chopped off his sister’s head and surrendered before the Nadial police with the severed head here on Friday.
Mehtab Alam (29) told the police he chopped off the head of Nelofore Bibi (22) as she was allegedly involved in an extra-marital affair.
According to the police, the victim is survived by her husband for eight years, Akbar, a garment dealer, and two children.
Alam alleged that his sister had eloped with Feroz, a rickshaw-puller of their area on November 28.
A missing person report filed by the victim’s father stated that she had come to his home from her in-laws’ house and went away with Feroz the same day.
On Friday, Alam traced his sister and murdered her, police said.
