The BJP on Sunday demanded the resignation of Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid for the alleged siphoning of funds by the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust run by him and his wife.
BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad demanded a probe into the allegations.
He was speaking after inaugurating a daylong workshop on “coal scam and failures of the UPA government,” organised by the Karnataka unit of the party here.
It was alleged that the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust forged signatures of senior officials of the Uttar Pradesh government, depriving disabled people of their money and equipment, he said.
“This is a serious matter as it concerns people who are physically challenged and the government should order a probe into the case,” said the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. “It is the duty of Law Minister to uphold the law of the country and he [Mr. Khurshid] should quit till he comes out clean.”
Mr. Prasad leader also demanded a full-fledged inquiry into the allegations of financial wrongdoing against Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra. By investing Rs. 50 lakh, Mr. Vadra had earned a profit of Rs. 300 crore in the last three years, he alleged.
“The Centre should order a probe by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court into the financial irregularities of Mr. Vadra.” Mr. Prasad opposed a CBI probe, saying it was controlled by the government.
