The second incident of “temple desecration” forced authorities to suspend internet services in Jammu on Friday as Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta put the PDP-BJP government on notice.
“There was another act of temple desecration in less than three days. The government must come up with a statement and the police need to keep in mind that this should not take place,” Mr. Gupta said.
All internet services across the Jammu region, which remained tense on Friday, were suspended “to stop rumour mongering” on social media.
A man on Thursday entered a temple at Nanak Nagar and tried to vandalise it. “He has been identified and arrested,” Deputy Commissioner (Jammu) Simrandeep Singh said.
A few days ago, a similar incident at Roopnagar sparked violence.
