The trial proceedings in the 2006 Varanasi blasts could not take place today as a prosecution witness did not appear in the district court here.

District judge V C Gupta postponed the next hearing to April 19 as sub—inspector Kedar Kushwaha could not come in the court.

Kushwaha was to present evidences linked to the case and also appear for cross—examination. Waliullah, prime accused in the Varanasi blasts, was present in the court.

The twin blasts at Sankat Mochan temple and Cantonment railway station in Varanasi on March 6, 2006 had claimed several lives besides injuring many others.
