Two absconding members of the banned Indian Mujahideen (IM) have joined the terrorist group Islamic State (IS), Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

“There are intelligence inputs of one or two members of the Indian Mujahideen, who were absconding from India since many years, having joined the ISIS/ISIL,” Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary said in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.

Mr. Chaudhary said there are no intelligence inputs of members of SIMI seeking shelter in Nepal.

“However, the members of the Indian Mujahideen have been known to have hideouts in Nepal, the Gulf and in Pakistan,” he said.
