President Rajapaksa greets Bachchan

Mr. Rajapaksa met Bachchan at the Janadhipathi Mandiraya (President's House) here on Tuesday evening.

The actor was the guest of the President and Madame Shiranthi Rajapaksa.

At the meeting, which lasted 45 minutes, the President and the actor discussed aspects of the Indian and Sri Lankan film industries, with emphasis on developing good cinema of the whole sub-continent, combining the assets and talents of both countries.

Film production

Bachchan was also appreciative of the opportunities for film production available in Sri Lanka. Mr. Rajapaksa said the government was keen to develop the Sri Lankan film industry and saw many possibilities of partnership with India in this regard.

The actor was impressed by the work already done in establishing the Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele-Cinema Park at Tissamaharama, which is a brainchild of the President.

The President and the actor also discussed cricket, which both follow keenly.
