Villupuram betters previous performance in Plus Two results

Villupuram district has registered 85.18 percentage pass in the Plus Two examinations, thereby bettering its last year’s results by 7.15 per cent.

For the past four years, the district has been improving upon the performance.

In 2011, it achieved 77.13 per cent results, in 2012 — 77.23 per cent, in 2013 — 78.03 per cent and in 2014 — 85.18 per cent.

AKT Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Kallakurichi and the Mount Park Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Thiagadurgam shared the distinction of having produced the four top rankers in Plus Two examinations in the district.

C. Saranyavathi of AKT School and Manibharathi of Mount Park School scored 1185 out of 1200, and shared the top slot.

A. Vasudevan of Mount Park School obtained 1184 marks and R. Akshaya of AKT School got 1183 marks to secure second and third positions.

Collector V. Sampath felicitated the achievers in the presence of Chief Educational Officer S. Mars on Friday.

The CEO said the top rankers in the government schools are: R. Vani of Villupuram, Hari Prabhu of Sellampatti, A. Bhuvaneswari of Sankarapuram and M. Saravanan of Panamalaipettai, all of them scored 1130 marks each.

V. Priyanka (1129) of Sangitamangalam government school and V. Deepa (1127) of Melmalaiyanur government school stood the second and third places.

The high scorers in the aided schools are: G. Jayapriya (1137), S. Aruna (1128) and S. Sevandhi (1119), all from Pesky Higher Secondary School, Ulundurpet.

The meritorious students of municipal high schools are: V. Manivannan (1106) of Sri Kamaraj Municipal School, V. Kavipriyan (1106) of P.N. Thoppu Municipal School, S. Vijayakumar (1104) and S. Saravanan (1096) of Sri Kamaraj Municipal School, Villupuram.

The top performers of Adi Dravida schools are: M. Vijayasanthi (1088) and A. Sharmila (996) of Singanur and S. Chitra (983) of Kavarai. The two model schools at Sithal and Peryasiruvathur are among the 20 schools that have got cent per cent results.

St. Peter Paul’s Special School drew a blank as its single candidate (deaf and dumb) did not get through. The OPR government school at Omandur is the only school that secured less than 40 per cent (35.24 per cent).
