Traffic restrictions put in place to manage rush ahead of Deepavali

The traffic police have restricted entry of heavy vehicles on Anna Salai, Kamarajar Salai and Bussy Street from October 24 to 27 in order to avoid inconveniencing Deepavali shoppers.

A release from the police said all vehicles from Marimalai Adigal Salai will have to enter Bussy Street and take the right to Chinna Subbaraya Pillai Street (adjacent to Kamban Kalai Arangam) - Subbaiya Street - Sonampalayam Junction - H.M. Casim Street - Sardar Vallabhai Patel Salai (SVP) Salai - Ajantha junction and should take the right via Muthialpet, the release said.

Likewise heavy vehicles from ECR should take the right at the Ajantha junction towards SVP Salai and turn right to the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (N.S.C) Bose Salai (Chenjisalai) - Sonapalayam junction towards right to Subbaiya Street - Old Bus Stand and go left to use the Marimalai Adigal Salai.

Except for two-wheelers, no vehicles will be allowed to enter Jawaharlal Nehru Street from October 24 to 27.

In addition, vehicle entry into Rangapillai Street and Ambalathadayar Street between Chinna Subbaraya Pillai Street, Bharathi Street and Mahatma Gandhi Street will be barred.

Parking arrangements

Parking for four-wheelers are arranged at Anna Thidal, the release said.

The police have requested van, bus and lorry operators to cooperate with the authorities.

The traffic police have decided to divert traffic at short notice and hence residents are requested to cooperate, the press release from the police added.
