Shrugging off the claims of several political parties to bring complete prohibition on liquor, the ruling All India NR Congress president and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Thursday categorically stated that there is no question of bringing any prohibition.

After releasing the manifesto at his party office, Mr. Rangasamy said, “There is no question of bringing any prohibition on liquor in the UT. It is not possible here since the people here have been exposed to French culture and its influence. Besides, being a small State, the UT largely depends on the excise revenue from liquor sale.”
