A day after the photos of convicts and prisoners leading a luxurious life inside the Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai went viral, the district police conducted a surprise check in the Cuddalore Central Prison on Sunday.

According to a senior official, the search was to ascertain whether any banned items had been smuggled into the prison. More than 100 police personnel and officers from the district police along with the prison officials led by Cuddalore Deputy Superintendent of Police A.J Lamech took part in the operations in the high security block, convict and undertrial blocks in the prison from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.

The police official said that nothing incriminating had been found in the prison.
