Man’s death in nursing home sparks tension

Tension prevailed on Lenin Street here on Wednesday after irate relatives of a 20-year-old man who died while undergoing treatment in a private nursing home ransacked the premises alleging medical negligence on the part of the doctors.

Relatives claimed that M. Ramkumar, a resident of Lawspet was brought to the private nursing home at Lenin Street on Tuesday after he complained of stomach ache.

Ramkumar who was admitted to the hospital died during treatment after a few hours.

Hearing the news of his death, relatives of Ramkumar turned violent and ransacked the nursing home.

Senior police officials and MLAs Om Sakthi Sekar, Ashok Anand and M. Vaithianathan pacified the agitators following which they withdrew their protest.
