Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday openly challenged those ministers accusing her of blocking funds to Puducherry to prove their charges.
Responding to the questions on the charge placed against her in the Assembly that she was blocking Central government funds to Puducherry, she said: “Ask the minister which scheme, I will show you the file. I have blocked nothing. We have cleared the files very expeditiously and most honestly and carefully.”
‘Abiding by the law’
When questioned about the resolution in the Assembly to reduce her powers, Ms. Bedi said: “As a Lieutenant Governor, I am going by the laws and rules as they exist today. I have not written the law. I am abiding by the law and if the law changes, I will go by the law.
“If the State government has a problem with the law, it should go to Parliament and the Government of India.”
She added that the L-G could have a view different from the government and where there was difference of view, according to the rules, it can be referred to the President. But till that matter is referred, the order of the LG remains.
