Various competitions held to mark the event

The Department of Home Science of Bharathidasan Government College for Women held various competitions for children on the occasion of Children’s Day on Wednesday. Children from the kindergarten college run by the college participated in the drawing, storytelling, fancy dress and singing competition. P. Poongavanam, Principal of the college, presided over the function.

Prize distribution

V. Raji Sugumar, Head of the Department of Home Science, distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions. The event was coordinated by third year students of the Home Science Department under the guidance of Associate Professor P. Asha and Assistant Professor M. Shobana.

Meanwhile, teachers of the Poyyapakkam Government Higher Secondary School near Villupuram on Wednesday prepared biryani in the school premises and served them to students on the occasion of Children’s Day. Sources said the school teachers contributed money and prepared the chicken biryani in the premises.

The teachers also served them to around 350 students in the school.
