Dr. Sudhakar Shinde returned as chief of Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Thursday following orders from the Urban Development Department. Dr. Shinde was moved to Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation on March 15 following a written transfer order from the Election Commission.

Dr. Shinde said, “I will work towards a clean, beautiful and smart Panvel city. The support of citizens has put more responsibility on my shoulders.” Mangesh Ranawade, a resident of Kharghar, said, “It is a victory for residents who are looking for a clean and safe civic administration in Kharghar. It was a long, but fruitful wait for all residents.”

Mangal Kamble, founder of Swachh Kharghar Manch, said, “We are looking forward to an efficient civic administration under Dr. Shinde’s guidance. We are sure to have a honest and effective administration.”

A day after the transfer, an online petition addressing Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was started and about 1,000 people signed it. Titled ‘Believe me, we saw it for the first time!’, the petition was shared across social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, a Twitter campaign — #support4sudhakrshinde — also gained momentum. The tweet by Abhijit Malge, a resident of Kharghar, announcing the campaign on March 16, was retweeted 2,167 times.
