State to build memorial to Vajpayee in Mumbai

A day after announcing university chair in the memory of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the State government on Wednesday announced that it would construct a memorial to Vajpayee in Mumbai.

“He lived his life for the country. His work for the nation was unparalleled. We will build a grand memorial for Vajpayeeji in Mumbai to help people inspire from his life and work,” Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said at the condolence meeting organised by the BJP at NCPA.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik, who attended the condolence meeting, said, “It was Atalji who built the party after the 1984 electoral defeat. He dedicated his life for the country. He nurtured activists and took the country on the path of progress.”
