A Special Investigation Team, which probed allegations of a multi-crore irrigation scam in Maharashtra, submitted its report to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Saturday.

The SIT, headed by the former Union Water Resources Secretary Madhav Chitale, was formed in 2012 after allegations surfaced of major irregularities in the Irrigation Department, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar between 1999 and 2009.

“I have addressed all nine terms of reference. I am hopeful the government will table the report in the next Assembly session and make it public. I feel they are serious about it,” Mr. Chitale told The Hindu .
