Dear Editor,
This is to bring to your notice that the story "Bangladeshi trafficking victim depose through video conferencing" by Sonam Saigal which appeared on February 21, 2016 is factually incorrect.
As stated in the article, International Justice Mission and Rights Jessore (Bangladesh) have facilitated the first ever testimony of trafficking victim via video conference. Your article reads, "Setting a legal precedent, an international victim of human trafficking on Saturday deposed..." is inaccurate.
With support from the Ministry of External Affairs, anti-human trafficking organisation Justice and Care played a vital role in facilitating the first ever testimony of a Bangladeshi victim recorded via video-conferencing before the presiding judge vide GR Bombay Sessions Case No. 380/2013 on 12 February 2015.
Setting a precedent, Justice and Care along with the concerned authorities facilitated the second testimony via video conferencing for another Bangladeshi victim on February 11, 2016.
