The Mumbai Police on Friday said it will summon actor Ranveer Singh on August 22 in connection with a case registered for posting his nude photographs on his social media account.
A team of police officials went to his residence on Friday to deliver the summons but were informed that he was not at home and would return on August 16.
A first information report (FIR) was registered against him on July 26 based on a complaint by Lalit Tekchandani at the Chembur police station under sections 292 (sale of obscene books, etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and section 67A of the Information Technology Act which pertains to publication of any material that contains sexually explicit acts or conduct.
Mr. Singh allegedly did a photoshoot for a magazine where he posed nude and posted those pictures on his Instagram account.
