In acquitting J Dey’s former colleague and scribe Jigna Vora of any role in his murder, the special MCOCA court relied upon the testimonies of four witnesses – Pramod Sawant, Nikhil Dixit, Aariz Chandra and Rajesh Kadam.
The court said, “There is nothing in their evidence to suggest that she had instigated Rajan to commit the murder or that she had any other role in this offence. The court also recorded that the extra-judicial confessions made by Rajan has not stated anywhere that he got Dey murdered because of the instigation by Ms. Vora or anybody else. The recovery of various mobile phones and the SIM cards of Ms. Vora and the relevant CDRs fail to connect Ms. Vora to the offence. Hence, she has been acquitted of all the charges against her.”
The court said, “It is not necessary to analyse the sanction order under MCOCA with respect to Ms. Vora as the prosecution has failed to prove her involvement in the case.”
