The Rabale police have seized 158 kg ganja worth ₹23 lakh from a car abandoned by its driver during nakabandi operations.

Around 4 a.m. on Monday, the police had put up barricades at Sector 6 in Ghansoli for a routine check. An unidentified man driving a Skoda car saw the police from a distance, stopped and locked the car, and ran away. “We saw the abandoned car and towed it to the police station. A duplicate key couldn’t be made so we had to break the windowpane to open the door. Around 158 kg ganja worth ₹23 lakh was found inside,” assistant police inspector Nitin Pagar said. The car is registered under the name of a chemical company in Belapur. “We are checking if it was stolen,” he said.
