The district administration here has taken measures to prevent the spread of fever in the wake of the death of two children in Puthige panchayat here.

District Collector D. Sajith Babu said there was no need for panic and that high-level medical team had visited the place to assess the situation. A four-and-half-year-old boy and his eight-month-old sister had died in a hospital in Mangaluru on Wednesday and Tuesday respectively. The Collector said the children’s mother was also suffering from fever. The District Medical Officer had offered to provide her treatment at the Kannur Government Medical College Hospital at Pariyaram or the Kozhikode Medical College.
