Contributions have been pouring in from all parts of the district to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, while several individuals and organisations have come forward to collect and take necessary materials directly to the relief camps.

The Supermarket Welfare Association of Kozhikode has contributed 150 bags of rice to be taken to the camps, while the Yuvajana Vayanasala at Cheliya collected fresh clothes from houses in the locality to be distributed among the disaster-hit.

Kozhikode Corporation Kudumbasree with the help of the Calicut Press Club, Century Merchants’ Association and Alhind Charitable Foundation collected notebooks, school bags, food items, bedsheets, diapers and sanitary napkins, footwear, tooth brush, soap, buckets, utensils, hygiene products, mosquito repellents and mattresses as part its ‘Mazhayardram’ project in its first phase. The CDS also contributed ₹2 lakh to the Chief Minister’s distress fund.

The Muslim Educational Society (MES) is planning to undertake relief work worth ₹2 crore in all the disaster-hit districts. They will construct houses for those who have lost it, repair those that have been partially damaged and distribute study materials to students who have lost theirs. MES Medical College will provide medical care as well. The MES institutions have cancelled their Onam-Bakrid celebrations this year and have decided to contribute the funds earmarked for the same for relief activities.

The VKC Group led by V.K.C. Mammad Koya, MLA, has contributed ₹1 crore to the relief fund, while the staff council of the District Medical Office (Health) contributed ₹20,000. So far, more than ₹1.11 crore has been contributed to the fund through the Kozhikode District Collector.

Those who wish to contribute to the relief work may hand over collected materials at the counter set up at the DTPC office at Mananchira. Funds may be handed over as cheque or demand draft (not cash) to the Disaster Relief Fund of the District Collector, or transferred to the District Collector (Disaster Relief Fund) (Account Number: 370402010021140; IFSC Code: UBIN0537047; Union Bank of India, Palayam Road, Kozhikode).
